Errol Neill: Biography

Born near Doune, Perthshire, Scotland. Lived for short periods in Perth, Glasgow and Carlisle before moving to Birmingham and eventually to Preston in Lancashire. Had long periods off school and eventually left school a couple of weeks before 15th birthday.
Began work in a Preston solicitors office. Shortly after got involved in cycle racing which lasted for some 15 years. Meanwhile began study for 'O' and 'A' levels and eventually a London Uninversity External Law Degree.
In the early 70's had begun collecting paintings which led to commencing drawing and painting classes at the Harris Art College Open Studio in groups run by David and June Bates. Whilst at school had been keenly interested in drawing and painting but had no art teacher and art was never considered as a career.
Had first painting exhibited at the annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Oil Painters in 1978 and thereafter during the 1980's exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Society of Marine Artists, New English Art Club and the Society of Equestrian Artists.
First exhibited a work at the Paris Salon (Societé des Artistes Français) in 1980 when awarded a Medaille d'Argent which was followed the following year by a Medaille d'Or. In 1982 had a solo exhibition at Galerie Cymaise, Paris followed by group shows in Deauville, France and New York.
Continued work as a lawyer qualifying as a Solicitor in 1981. Has recently begun exhibiting work at the annual exhibitions of the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute.
